Dental Implants

Dental implants are the most durable and natural-looking solution available for our patients who are missing one or more teeth. Dental implants are permanent and allow for natural cleaning, chewing, and speech. The dental implants process generally takes from three to six months. During the first visit, the patient’s mouth and jaw will be examined visually and via CT scan to determine whether the patient is a good candidate for dental implants. At the second visit, the patient will be made comfortable with local anesthesia and their gums and jaw will be prepared to receive the implants. The titanium tooth roots will then be inserted into the patient’s jaw the incisions will be closed with stitches. After the implantation, the patient will return home to allow the healing process to begin and the implants will become fused to the jawbone. This process generally takes from three to six months. On the third visit for placing dental implants, the patient will be fitted with custom-crafted, natural-looking porcelain replacement teeth. If you feel you are a candidate for dental implants contact Bronx Dental today.

Surgical Extractions

Although our team of dental professionals here at Bronx Dental always try to save every tooth, an extraction is sometimes necessary. Many of your teeth are easily removable, but occasionally it is a more complicated procedure which is a surgical extraction. Our dental professionals will ensure that you have the most comfortable experience during the surgical extraction. If you have any questions regarding surgical extractions and other forms of oral surgery, contact Bronx Dental today.

Periodontics

Bronx Dental offers a comprehensive soft tissue management program (STMP) as one of our preventative dentistry options. This hygiene maintenance program is designed to prevent periodontal (gum) disease and treat any existing infections in order to establish good oral health. During your initial examination, our dental professionals will look for common warning signs of periodontal disease and evaluate the condition of the gums, noting any recession, bleeding, or bone loss. We will also evaluate your risk factors for gum disease, such as diabetes, smoking, and the use of certain medications. If you do exhibit signs of periodontal disease, we will create a customized treatment plan just for you.

Laser Periodontal Therapy

Laser periodontal therapy, otherwise known as laser gum surgery, is provided by Bronx Dental with state of the art technology. Laser dentistry can be used for the following dental procedures: tooth decay removal, dental cavity preparation, and reshaping a “gummy” smile as well as general soft tissue dental procedures. Maintaining a good oral hygiene program after you undergo laser periodontal therapy is critical to avoiding a recurrence of inflammation. If you have more questions, contact us today.

Apico

An apico procedure is a surgical procedure that treats infected tissue. In this procedure, the dentist opens the gum tissue near the tooth to see the underlying bone and to remove any inflamed or infected tissue. The very end of the root is also removed. A small filling may be placed in the root to seal the end of the root canal, and a few stitches are placed in the gums to help the tissue heal properly. Over a period of months, the bone heals around the end of the root. If you have any questions about an apico treatment, contact Bronx Dental today.
